Ok, so we have a creek that pretty much perfectly cuts our playing area in half, long ways. So I'm thinking we make a game where 2 teams start on opposite sides of the creek and play elemination with the rule that there are only 2 narrow spots that anyone can cross the creek at. What do you guys think?

How did I miss this thread??? :?

Phil is a genius. That's a great idea for a game or two or three.

Wookie...can you zoom in with a SAT pic so we can decide the 2 points of entry crossing the creek to capture the forts located on either side of the creek???

I will try to bring in it a bit more...If you zoom too much it starts to get pixelated... Will letcha know...

We'll call it Rush The River as long as the water keeps flowing !

As I looked at Combat Area 2 a couple weeks ago, it seemed disadvantageous to play end-to-end because of the large area available for flanking. So Rush the River would work best.

Keep the ideas flowing Phil

Please explain...you lost me.

If you look at Combat Area 2, it doglegs and broadens at the north end (north is down). If we played end to end games like we do in Area 1, and if the stalking team starts from the staging area (like we do now) they could immediately be flanked from the north across the stream.

Just an observation from the map. We'll have to play it a few times to figure the best starting points. Maybe the staging area is left out of bounds and the stalking team starts closer to the stream bed. I'll work on the map to show another green circle Base.

no no no there is a large area for flanking but if your playing with someone whos knows about the science behind flanking you would notice that the area is also good for counter flanking so it would work either way end to end

Hmmm.......

So many details to work out in such a short period of time. lol

This style of play definately needs some sort of objective. Otherwise, the stream becomes irrelavent.

Flanking may not be that big of an issue if your trying to guard a fort/flag. (keep in mind that you can still shoot at someone from across the creek) If you go to far away from what you're trying to defend the game will be over quick. I love the idea that you can only cross the creek in two different spots to capture the fort/flag.

Let's put on our thinking caps gents. I'm sure we can come up with something cool. 8)

When I was thinking about this game I figured that one team would start somewhere behind 'snipers point', the north team would start not at the normal starting area but further west, near them big trees near the bounds. As for the point of the game I think there could be a couple...
Elimination would still be a lot of fun in this one.
Capture the flat would also work.
Some kind of 'get to the opposing teams base first' game with no flag.
I'm sure we could also think of something else that would be fun with that set of boundries/crossings
