Top 7 Paintball Sniper Tactics

Some people argue that there are no true snipers in paintball. Thats fine. This article is for anyone who does believe in paintball snipers those lone players who rely on stealth, range, and accuracy to shoot off the enemy one by one. Sniper paintball works best on big fields with continuous playing (like during scenario paintball or big games), but it can also be done in regular wood games. These quick steps will help you improve your sniper paintball game whatever the circumstance.

1) Use Sniper Gear(http://paintball.about.com/od/gear/tp/snipergear.htm)
Even before the start of the game, you have to think like a paintball sniper. Everything should blend into the environment as well as possible. You can wear camouflage if you have it, but at the very least avoid shiny paintball gear, white socks or shoes, or bright unnatural colors. If possible, choose a gun known for its accuracy, range, and quietness.

2) Remember, You are on a Team
Snipers are sometimes thought of a lone wolfs, but you have to play to help your team (and have them help you.) Let them know where youll be so they can cover you if need be and avoid accidental friendly fire. Plan your actions around the team goal you could be in front, on the flanks, or in the rear, depending on the situation. Perhaps you can have a sniper paintball partner: one person scouts, and the other is the shooter. To confuse the opposite team, take turns scouting and shooting.

3) Be Quiet(http://paintball.about.com/cs/strategy/qt/reducingnoise.htm)
A big element of being a successful paintball sniper is catching opposing team members by surprise. As a sniper, you have to be able to move quickly and quietly through places where it is difficult to do just that. Watch where you step, what your body brushes up against, what you lean on. A good paintball sniper can pass within a dozen yards of the enemy without anyone noticing. Once you are in place, you must be silent

4) Get Into Position
A good position is key for a paintball sniper. If you are so well hidden that nobody walks within a 100 yards of you, youre not doing any good. On the other hand, if you put yourself in spots which you have to constantly move from, you are no longer a sniper. As a sniper, you want to find a place where you can comfortably and quietly stay for a long time, but which will see some action (preferably just one or two enemy players at a time). Ditches or small hills can be effective sniper spots.

5) Choose Your Targets
Not everyone you see makes a good sniper target. Sometimes people will be out of range (dont tip them off to where you are!) Sometimes there will be too many enemies. Sure, you might be able to eliminate one or two, but eventually theyll figure out where you are. If you want to get into firefights, fine, but then dont pretend to be a paintball sniper. Pick off people when they are in range, come in one by one, or are well distracted by something else.
6) Be Accurate
The single most important element for a paintball sniper is accuracy. Always aim before you shoot. Your mantra should be one shot, one kill. Thats not always going to happen, even to the best sniper, but you need to remember that if you miss more than a couple of shots, enemy players will notice your position. Then you will end up being the one hunted.

7) Be Still Unless You Gotta Move!
If you are a good paintball sniper, the enemy wont know where you are before you shoot, and they wont know where you are after. If you stay very still, they probably wont see you. If you are in a position where you can duck down after you shoot, do so. Resist the urge to see what damage your sniper shot did. But if its obvious that your position is compromised, move! Quickly! Chances are, youll escape unscathed and be able to get into another sniper position later.
